They were talking about the stock market crash and what Obama should do to fix it. One thing that they said was that there wasn't much a President could do since he couldn't hire people or create jobs and had to rely on Congress to pass bills. (Hmmm..... NOW you tell us. All I heard during the Bush years was how he was causing everything in sight including the hurricanes.)
But I became curious when they had analysts on saying that we weren't going to get out of this mess if government kept interfering and "throwing piles of money at the market every time an industry threw a fit." That stopped me in my tracks. I couldn't believe what I was hearing on a program that had sung the praises of the bailout and pressured Republicans to sign on to it even though there were enough Democrats in both houses to get it passed, saying that just because they didn't sign on to that particular bill that they didn't want to do anything about it. (Turned out that many of those Dems didn't want to have to answer to their constituents for that mess, either.)
I thought the shock would end there; but nooooo. The biggest shock was yet to come. What did Nightline advise Obama to do in the end? They said that a President could have some effect on the economy, citing FDR and Reagan. But to fix the economy, they advised him to model his economic polices after REAGAN!!!
That did it. I had to catch myself from the utter shock. They went on to explain how his tax cuts (which were tax cuts for the wealthy, as well, mind you, much like the Bush tax cuts only more extensive)and polices freed up the economy to correct itself. (*gasp* Please resuscitate me.
So, the network that championed socialism is now, in these economic hard times, advising Obama to become an economic conservative. If he did, that would surely be one great big sigh of relief. But that's a big IF because, if he did that, he would surely anger a great deal of people because he would be breaking every single economic promise that he had made on the campaign; though, the markets would surely resurge in an instant; and the economy would rebound in not too long.
Anyway, I seem to be doing a lot of political journals lately, huh? I guess, I feel rather compelled to comment lately. And this one was a biggie. I mean.... That is just....HUGE!
In other news, I got a Wacom Bamboo Fun Tablet. You can see the first fruits of my labor in the form of the pumpkin and the new Stitch.
I hope to soon complete the two gift pixels for Miyaka and Gloomy Fenris.
To Gloomy Fenris, do you have any requests for what yours would be? I'm kind of stumped on what you would like.
